REALIZING THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION

MATTHEW 28:5-7 HEBREWS 13:20-21

Without hesitation or shame, we the people of God's glory do believe in the facts of the Resurrection.  But as members of the Church of Christ we do not celebrate the Easter holiday as traditional churches.  By that I mean that we do not wait for one Sunday in the year to emphasize the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  As members of the Church of Christ we do not wait for one Sunday in the year to come to church and partake of the Lord's Supper.  We take this supper every Sunday, realizing its significance in our weekly lives, and the benefits of the ever presence power of the Resurrection.

This we do holding steadfast to the edits of the Scriptures which states; "And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight".(Acts 20:7)

Those who only recognized the Resurrection of Christ one day of the year, do harm to the Scriptures and limit the power of God that is available to them every day.  Do they not understand that the facts of Resurrection are the essence of our faith?  If there was one word that focus and express the very principles of my faith, that one word would be the "Resurrection".  This is what Christianity essentially is: "a Religion of the Resurrection."

To hold to the truthfulness of the Scriptures, the symbol of Christianity is not the dead figure on the crucifix, but the true symbol is the empty tomb, the stone that was rolled out of the way, and the risen Christ trampling a broken cross beneath his feet, saying; "This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved". (Acts 4:11-12)

One of the reasons why many traditional churches do not take the Lord's Supper every Sunday is because they have missed the meaning of the Resurrection.  They have taking it in the wrong setting.  For too long they have regarded the Resurrection as an epilogue to the Gospel, an addendum to the scheme of salvation, a codicil to the last will and testament of God's dear Son.  And doing so they have erred in the Scriptures.  But the fact of the matter is that the Resurrection is no appendix to the faith; this was then and is now "The Faith"; the overpowering magnificent news about a man who was dead on Friday but alive on Sunday.

And because of the Resurrection there is no darkness that God cannot illuminate…

No despair that He cannot turn into sudden hope…

No tears that He cannot wipe away…

No pain that He cannot take away…

No depression that He can't lift…

And no frown that He cannot turn into a smile.

And according to Heb.13:20-21, this power is working even now!

God Bless!

SNT
